There’s an email that most businesses never send and it’s probably the highest-ROI email available to them.
It’s the email that goes to people who clicked on an offer but didn’t buy.
Most email platforms track link clicks. You send an email with a link to your sales page, your product, your offer — and your platform records who clicked the link. You know exactly who was interested enough to investigate but not interested enough (or ready enough) to buy.
These are warm leads. Highly warm leads. They read your email. They clicked through to the offer. They were interested. Something stopped them at the last step.
And most businesses do nothing with this information. The person goes back into the general email list, receives the same newsletter everyone else receives, and the specific interest they demonstrated never gets addressed.
The follow-up email to link clickers changes this.
It goes out automatically — triggered by the click — one or two days after someone clicked the link without purchasing. It acknowledges directly that they took a look. It addresses the most common objections that stop people at that stage. It offers an easy way to ask questions. And it makes the offer again with a slightly different angle.
The language is simple. Something like: “You took a look at [offer] the other day. I wanted to follow up in case you had questions or if something made you hesitate. Here’s what I hear most often from people who considered it…”
Then you address the two or three most common objections. Too expensive. Not sure if it’s right for my situation. I need to think about it. Each one addressed directly and honestly.
Then a clean call to action: reply to this email with questions, or here’s the offer again when you’re ready.
The conversion rate on this email is almost always higher than the original email that sent them to the offer in the first place. Because the people receiving it have already demonstrated specific intent. They’re not cold leads reading a promotional email. They’re warm prospects who got close and needed one more nudge.
Build this automation into your email system and let it work for you every single time someone gets close but doesn’t cross the line.
